An otter brought me a message from spirit the other day.

I was out walking here the other day. I have been spending a lot of time out in nature lately. And out on one of my typical routes, I decided to go of trail and do an expedition. I love to do this once in a while, to get to know the area that I live in better. I walked through tall grass by the river here in the valley. As I walked, I suddenly saw an otter, swimming over the river, to the other side. Otters are rare here in the area that I live in, so I was really surprised to see one. I had never seen one before. So I was completely mesmerized by the beautiful creature. I then started thinking of why I had seen it. I thought that it may had gone searching for food for its babies. I did not explore further, for the fear of suddenly standing in its nest or something. So I headed home.

Later on I decided to google the spiritual meaning of otters. And what I found, went straight to my heart.

In some Native American cultures, the otter is revered as a symbol of joy, playfulness, and adaptability. It is often seen as a spirit guide, representing the ability to find joy in life's challenges and navigate through difficult situations with ease.

What does an otter symbolize?

Native legends describe the Otter as a giver of great fortunes. The otter symbolizes friendship, peace, kindness and family. The otter is also social and mischievous and a symbol of grace, empathy, happiness and never-ending curiosity.

Otters are a spirit animal.Otters are sensible guides who use spiritual awareness and devotion to build progress. They embody water and earth energies to parallel with Sea Otters and River Otters. The connection with moving water gives otter the meaning of awareness of the subconscious, emotions, and psychism.

I have for a time now been connecting with nature and spirit. But I have also been connecting with my inner child, which embodies exactly that, joy, playfulness, curiosity. I feel so alive as I walk in nature. And curious of my spiritual experience. I feel playful as I walk among trees, jumping from rock to rock over water. Exploring the scenery I exist in.
